The Style 36 shoe is a historic Vans model and the first to feature the Sidestripe in 1977. Although the Vans Sidestripe has since become the unmistakable and recognizable hallmark of the brand, back then it was just a random doodle drawn by founder Paul Van Doren. In fact, at that time, this band was even known by a different name: the “jazz stripe”.
Paying homage to the design that brought a true icon to life, the Gum Style 36 is made with durable canvas and suede uppers, and features retro rubber side panels. These low-top, lace-up shoes also include several vintage-inspired touches, including a reinforced toe box, padded collar for added support, and signature rubber waffle outsoles.
